Chidokan was established in 1954 in Japan by Takeshi Sasaki. The Chidokan Honbu dojo, with Kiyoshi Sasaki as chief instructor, was situated in Nippori, Tokyo. On his return from full-time training there in 1967 Sims Sensei introduced the Chidokan style of karate into the South Pacific region.
