- NTU LIFEGUARD CORPSView MoreSingaporeNanyang Technological University (NTU) Lifeguard Corps was first founded in 1986. Since then, NTU Lifeguard Crops has been actively promoting lifesaving and aquatic safety awareness through its activities. Lifesaving activities such as: Lifesaving 1, 2, 3, Bronze Medallion and Standard Resuscitation (CPR) courses are offered biannually with the objective if imparting lifesaving and resuscitation knowledge to NTU/NIE undergraduates and staff. Furthermore, NTU Lifeguard Corps competes in local and international Lifesaving Competition such as the National Lifesaving Championships. NTU Lifeguard Corps also provide certified lifeguards to ensure aquatic safety for NTU water-based events. These events include water-based orientation events, and Surf and Sweat. Swimfest is a popular annual flagship swimming event organized by NTU Lifeguard Corps. It is the main swimming event in the University's sport calendar with at least 250 participants attending each year! This event promotes benefits of safe water sport participation and swimming for a healthy lifestyle. It also creates a wonderful opportunity for swimming enthusiasts to gather and challenge their limit. We also hold an annual 2D1N trip to Kusu Island for our members to volunteer and experience lifeguarding in an open water setting. We are volunteering our services under the permission of Singapore Lifeguard Corps (SLGC) to provide basic lifeguarding services during the peak period of the Annual Kusu Island pilgrimage.

Our primary research areas include natural hazards & disaster risk reduction, women in leadership, population aging, global health, sustainable cities, artificial intelligence & the future of work, the Pacific Ocean, and labor mobility. History APRU was established in Los Angeles in 1997 by the presidents of UCLA, Berkeley, Caltech and the University of Southern California (USC). It now has a membership of the presidents of 60 leading research research universities from around the Pacific Rim. This includes 200,000 academic staff and 2 million students. Seeing the rapid economic integration of the region and the formation of APEC, the founding presidents’ vision was to establish a premier alliance of research universities as an advisory body to international organisations, governments and business on the development of science and innovation as well as on the broader development of higher education.
